Assessment task title: Personal Learning Journal
Details of Task: Reflection is the individual equivalent of review and evaluation and is an essential component of the learning process. The subject has a considerable applied component which requires students to practice and trial theories, ideas and tools learned in class. This Assessment takes this one step further.
During the semester students are required to select TWO topics from the class activities and reflect on how this topic, currently or in the future, impact their life, career, studies, personal and
/ or professional relationships. It includes learning experiences from topics covered throughout the semester. Students are required to prepare and submit an individual learning journal and report consisting of the following sections:
1. Learning Events
In this section the student will complete TWO Learning Journals of 750-1000 words each in length.
The in-class sessions is a good source of events however the MGF5992 Moodle site also has many other sources of information, surveys, links to video clips and talks that will be of personal interest or significance to students. The majority of the learning events should relate to concepts and issues covered in the unit (e.g., strengths, components of PSYCAP, Mindfulness,
Mindset, tools to increase Positive Emotions and so on).
Is this journal topic something that you are currently doing well? Have done well in the
past? Would like to incorporate more of into your life in the future? Make certain you analyse both what you do well and what you may need to improve. Remember to focus on the positive as well as the negative. Learning Journals should reflect a personal element and can be written in the first person.
The structure and format of each entry is up to the individual, however many students find using a more structured approach with sub headings very helpful, such as those listed below. All events should be titled and dated.

• ? Brief analysis and discussion including initial and perhaps later reflections on the event

Discuss each of them in more detail using current literature and your own experience to analyse firstly your current reality. Incorporate at least 10 academic references in total. Using the diagnostics from class or listed on Moodle, identify your current reality. How do these results and your experiences fit with what the literature says?
2. Vision for the Future
Based on your analysis in Section 1 what do your see your future looking like if these items were incorporated? Describe your best possible self in some detail. The time frame should not be too short but also not too far into the future either. Somewhere between 12 months and three years is about right. You might like to sit back and dream about what your future would look like with these changes in place or you may have already identified where you will be. Have a bit of fun putting it into words. This section could be about 500 words in total. Think of this as where you would like to end up with this item, your intention or goal has been achieved. What does this look like? Make certain that your vision relates to section 1.
3. Action Plans
How are you going to get there? What specifically are you going to do? This section outlines how you will go about developing / bridging the identified areas for growth in Section 1. The two action plans should incorporate your specific goals or intentions as outlined in Section 2, what you expect to achieve, time frames, how you will assess your improvements / changes and necessary resources. Try to also consider the character strengths you need to make this vision a
reality. Where necessary the plan should be supported by appropriate literature and use of diagnostics (e.g., articles and self-assessment resources in Moodle).
Each action plan should be about one page in length and a tabular format is acceptable. This section could be about 500 words in total.
Note, this is the section that students generally do poorly. Ensure that you have answered When, Where, and How in your written response or table. Be SPECIFIC.

unprofessional presentation including lack of appropirate referencing, poor grammar, spelling, lack of paragraphs and punctuation. Carefully PROOF READ your documents before submission.

1. Develop skills of self-awareness, acceptance and effective goal setting
2. Enhance skills in identifying and developing personal strengths, efficacy, positive thinking
and self talk, change, optimism and resiliency
3. Developing skill in applying all concepts to achieve enhanced individual, team,
organisational and community success.
Submission details: Assessment is to be submitted online via Moodle-Turnitin on 09 May 2016 (Week 10).
Note: Resubmission, including submission of an incomplete assignment or draft online, is not permitted in this unit.

Penalties for late lodgement: Assessment handed in after the approved extension period or submitted late without permission will incur a 10% penalty per day after the due date of submission (including weekends and public holidays).
