Erez Manela’s The Wilsonian Moment: Self-Determination and the International Origins of Anticolonial Nationalism discusses the global transmission of Woodrow Wilson’s idea of self-determination and the consequences of that transmission. In a well-constructed essay of 4-6 pages (double-spaced, normal margins, etc.) use specific evidence from the book to address the following points: how Wilson’s ideas reached the four non-European groups of people Manela covers in his book; how those people responded to Wilson’s ideas; and whether their response was unexpected. Each of these three points should be dealt with in a separate discussion of at least a paragraph (meaning a minimum of three paragraphs total), and the essay as a whole should include an overall introduction and conclusion. Citations to the book should be in the form of parenthetical page references. No other sources should be used.
