1. The psychological contract
The psychological contract refers to the mutual expectations of employers and their employees with respect to rights, privileges and obligations within the employment relationship. It includes such notions as employee engagement, emotional intelligence, equity and trust.
Consider what has changed in Gen X and Gen Y employees psychological expectations of their employers and vice versa. What do HR professionals need to do to address these new expectations?
2. Strategic HRP
Strategic HRP refers to the careful (long and short term) planning of all HRM processes (e.g. staffing, HRD, performance management, remuneration, career progression) in order to ensure that their outcomes reflect and contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the organisation.
Discuss the crucial components of strategic HRP (labour market analysis, talent demand and supply, employee reward and development systems) in your industry or an industry of your choice. What are the possible challenges, and how might they be addressed?
3. Changing workforce
The changing character of the Australian workforce represents new challenges for HR managers. Consider the issues surrounding for feminisation of the workforce and the ageing population.
What are the main human resource implications of these demographic trends? How are governments responding?
4. Key school environmental variables
What are some of the key environmental variables that you see changing in schools or educational organisations? Discuss the impact of these changes on the HRM function in the education sector?
