Oral Interview

Assignment Description 

The purpose of this assignment is to imagine your dream job in hospitality. What is the position and what company do you imagine? Contact that person (or a person in a similar role) and schedule an in person interview. Create interview questions that learn about the career path, advice, etc. Ask the questions you always wanted answered.

For this assignment:

1. You will chose to interview one department head level (or higher) hospitality manager.

2. Schedule an in person interview with that person

3. Create a list of questions that are business professional

4. Write a summary of the information that you received

5. Present orally (Power Point) regarding the information

You will be asked to present on the following material in addition to the personal questions you ask:

1. Brief overview of the company

2. Persons, name, title, and how long they’ve been with the company

3. Career path of the individual

4. One thing they would have done differently in their career

5. 3 things they look for when hiring new talent

6. Advice they would give a student entering the hospitality industry

7. Additional information found by your personal questions

Grading Rubric

Oral Presentation 

Used proper presentations skills as learned in class (voice annunciation, eye contact, visuals, graphics, and engaging presentation techniques).

Compliance

Presentation was 5-7 minutes in length, questions were clearly answered in detail, chose a manager of a department level or higher, typed up summary

Summary 

Writing will be clear and professional. The summary should be double spaced (2), in 12-point Times New Roman font, and have 1 inch margins. The summary should include all information required in presentation. Summary should be no more than 2 pages long.
