For this discussion you will use The Joint Commission’s webpage to investigate a hospital in your geographic area or in the State where you live.

First go to the website, Quality Check. Next choose any hospital in your geographic area (Bronx, NY), enter its name (Montefiore Medical Center) into the search engine on the webpage. Now view the accreditation quality report for your chosen hospital. This is a public report so the name of the hospital does not have to be kept confidential. Look at this hospital in comparison with other Joint Commission facilities (benchmarking). Are there any areas of deficiency (minus sign)? If there are areas of deficiency, click on this area and analyze the deficiencies. To do this, click on “see details.”

This week’s discussion will focus on performance improvement of your chosen hospital.

Find two areas of deficiency or areas that will benefit from performance improvement.
Using the PDCA /PDSA model, discuss two improvement measures per deficiency that you would put in place to correct the issues. Be sure to state what you are trying to accomplish and how you will measure the improvement. Also consider a systems perspective and ethical framework in your response.
In your initial response, be sure to use examples from the module notes and videos and other information from your readings and your own research/experience to discuss the 2 deficiencies, the 2 improvement opportunities for each deficiency, what you are trying to accomplish and how you will measure the improvement.
