1.Why, and how successfully, does Thrasymachus contend that rulers cannot make mistakes?

-By saying that rulers cannot make mistakes, Thrasymachus wants to avoid contradiction position, but it was not successful.

2. What does Socrates think of Thrasymachus?s idea that unjust people are stronger and more effective than just people?

-group of unjust people has no unity , and harm each other, uncoordinated.
However, Just people foster.

3. Why does Glaucon tell the story of Gyges, and what, briefly, is the story?
-He tries to provoke Socrates in the proving that justice is intrinsic value.

4. Why does Socrates favor supervision of all arts and crafts, including architecture?
-promotes rationality in kids, good educational environment.
Stimulates right thoughts, inner equilibrium, connected with morality. good design promotes rationality , rationality promotes morality.
Good environment can be planned.

5. How does Socrates think that physical training (gymnastic) can benefit one?s mind and soul?
-physical training ought to be part of education, it helps person to stand up for himself by developing spirit (passion, desire, competitiveness), not simply your body.
In good physical condition, promotes self-esteem.
